Did you know that more than 30 homeless individuals have died in our community in the past 12 months?  Some have died from natural causes, while others have died from violence, serious illness, or unknown causes.  But none will be forgotten.  Their lives mattered, and this community each year compassionately makes a point to remember those we’ve lost, by attending this event.

The annual Nov 17 Candlelight Memorial Service to honor our homeless neighbors who have died this year will take place during National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week.

Sponsored by Opening Doors Northwest Florida, Waterfront Rescue Mission, and Community Health Northwest Florida, the memorial service will take place in the courtyard of Waterfront Rescue Mission on Nov. 17.

National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, observed the week before Thanksgiving each year, is a program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness.
