Pensacola Mayor Grover Robinion shared the following message on his Facebook on Thursday:
“Today I was proud to recognize several nonprofit groups and their leaders who work so hard every day to assist homeless individuals in our community. Vince Whibbs Jr. of REAP / ReEntry Alliance Pensacola, John Johnson of Opening Doors Northwest Florida, Connie Bookman of Pathways for Change, and Melissa Johnson of Fearless Community Inc. were instrumental in connecting homeless individuals with alternative shelter as the I-110 encampment transitioned, working countless hours to engage with individuals at the encampment and provide assistance. The City of Pensacola could not have facilitated the transition of the I-110 homeless encampment without the assistance of the many agencies, volunteers and staff members engaged in working to find solutions to homelessness in the Pensacola community. Thank you to all of these individuals and the many others who work so selflessly and collaboratively to combat homelessness every day.”
