Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.

Helen Keller

Opening Doors has achieved a recent milestone worthy of mention. As recommended by our HUD TA (Technical Assistance), we identified seventeen community advocates and leaders (from specific industry fields of expertise) that will help our community develop a comprehensive governance structure for the greater good of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties.

We want to thank the leaders and advocates that are giving their precious time to help create the structure of the CoC Council. Their bios provide a very brief description of what they do daily to bring direct or indirect help to those that are facing difficulties.

The list was proposed to provide specific representation from disciplines of non-profit organizations, government, and those with lived experiences. Each of us share perspectives that are in part ‘individual,’ but when put together creates a grander picture of what a homeless response system could be.

With guidance from the TA, this ad hoc committee will spend several months creating a foundation to birth a new CoC Council.

I truly believe when we stand together, we stand a chance.
