Pensacola Dream Center pulls out all the stops at Christmas to make sure everyone is blessed with something. We have several opportunities to bless out marginalized this Christmas. If you would like to be a part of any of these outreached, please text 850-607-0453 with your name and contact information along with outreach you are interested in.
Choose from one of these Christmas volunteer opportunities:
December 16th – AWC Christmas Celebration for the Homeless. This is where they will receive a gift of shoes. We have live music, great food, outerwear and lots of Christmas Cheer. Volunteer opportunities vary from making a dish of food to being a table host. You must sign up for this as there are about 70 volunteers. 7:30-1 or 10-1 if you are doing food.
December 20- Maxwell Respite Center for Homeless Families – 4:30- 7, We have 6 families left to sponsor matching pj’s for. We are serving them a hot meal (Bright Bridges is helping with the turkeys) , decorating their common space, singing some carols and giving them the gift of matching pj’s. We hope to bring some Christmas cheer. We will take anything else that comes in that might be a blessing to them.
December 21- Big Fish Ministries – Foley (Women only)- We will be taking them a Christmas Party and the gift of PJ’s and slippers. Singing carols and bringing love and hope with us.
December 21- Bright Bridges – (Men and Women). We will be delivering their gifts of Christmas Shoes, speak blessings over them and maybe some cookies and cider and music. The time of this outreach is fluid until we find the perfect time for these men. I am thinking after dinner around 630ish
December 23rd- Scarf the Trees- Downtown Pensacola– 10pm at night, we are gathering scarves, beanies, gloves and more to tie to trees all over downtown area for our homeless to wake up to on Christmas Morning. Hey will have Red Christmas ornament and a card on them that says, “just a little something to show you that God Loves you and so do we!”
Delivering Food- Every Thursday any time between 9 and 4pm.
Last but not least, in the middle of all this giving and cheer, we have three homeless families reaching out seeking shelter. Two are pregnant with kids, sleeping in cars. We have reached out to a couple of Air BNB who are willing to rent to them. The cost is about $2500 from today until December 31st. During this time, we are hoping to find a more permanent solution. We need help with this from all that work in this area. If you can assist with case management or with resources, we would be greatly appreciative. I will find it hard to enjoy Christmas with these sleeping in cars. We are bringing them in and getting their stories etc. before placing anyone. If you have any other answers to this dilemma, please call me ASAP as we are going to move quickly with the cold weather ahead.
